For sale: an exceptional and unique collection of original botanical drawings and watercolors, sourced directly from the archives and creative collection of Éditions Jacques Grancher (1980s).
This period working collection contains 42 pieces in total, originally listed as “more than 35 plates.” These are original, hand-painted works in watercolor and fine ink, created as illustrations for identification guides to medicinal and wild plants, trees, and shrubs of Europe.
The collection displays remarkable botanical precision and includes studies of plants showing roots, stems, flowers, and botanical details; tree silhouettes depicting their appearance across the seasons; and preparatory artwork for printing, with some color plates accompanied by matching black-ink line drawings.
