Pierre Wininger, born in 1950, began his career in comics in 1976. His work appeared in Charlie Hebdo and Circus (“Victor Billetdoux”). In 1979, he created “Le Jardin Sanglant,” written by Henri Filippini, for Pilote; it was later published as an album by Dargaud.
He then created “Nicéphore Vaucanson” for Okapi. From 1987 onward, Wininger, who also illustrated children’s books, focused on adapting numerous novels into comics for Je Bouquine. He illustrated adaptations of novels by Oscar Wilde, Conan Doyle, Calvino, Carroll, Balzac, Faulkner, Shelley, Stevenson, Saint-Exupéry, Du Maurier, Charlotte Brontë, and many others. A beautiful original comic art page from 1978 by Pierre De Winninger, from La Pyramide oubliée (The Forgotten Pyramid).
