Pierre Wininger, born in 1950, began his career in comics in 1976. His work appeared in Charlie Hebdo and Circus (“Victor Billetdoux”). In 1979, he created “Le Jardin Sanglant,” written by Henri Filippini, for Pilote; it was later published as an album by Dargaud.
He then created “Nicéphore Vaucanson” for Okapi.
From 1987 onward, Wininger, who was also a children’s illustrator, focused on adapting numerous novels for “Je Bouquine.” He illustrated adaptations of works by Oscar Wilde, Conan Doyle, Calvino, Carroll, Balzac, Faulkner, Shelley, Stevenson, Saint-Exupéry, Du Maurier, Charlotte Brontë, and others.
